President Gitanas Nausėda is on a working visit to Germany, where on Thursday he met with the leadership of the German Association of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises.

Gitanas Nausėda and the representatives of the German business association discussed Lithuania’s investment climate, achievements in economic policy, Lithuania’s progress in terms of the green deal, and the EU’s plans for a breakthrough in green industry.

The President stressed that the ambition to develop a zero-emission industry, initiated by the European Commission a couple of months ago, would set the stage for a Community-wide economic boost.

“Smart and advanced Lithuanian business will have new opportunities to grow both on its own and through international partnerships. It will also be an opportunity to expand ties with German business,” the President said.

At the meeting, Gitanas Nausėda pointed out that Lithuania’s economic cooperation with Germany in the areas of exports, imports and investments was active, diversified and based on mature business partnerships underpinned by trust. According to the President, strong relations with the largest economy in the European Union were also the basis for a successful Lithuanian economy, which is why Lithuania aimed to expand and develop them.

President Gitanas Nausėda invited the German Association of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, with over 900 000 members, to send a mission to Lithuania to strengthen existing bilateral business partnerships and establish new ones.
